Despite the horrible weather on the east coast, I made it to my long overdue brow and lip wax. I was three weeks behind due to a migraine, my surgery, and then painkillers. Yesterday’s post is a before and here is my after. 🙂
(the second one is filtered because I was in horrible lighting)
(the first one is pink because it was literally a minute after getting waxed)
But ladies, how about that mascara?! This one is from the drugstore and is really impressing me. It is Maybelline Full and Soft. On me it feels very light and fluttery but it separates and lengthens gorgeously. I didn’t even curl my lashes today and I still got a very flirty, lifted look. I haven’t had any smudging with this one, but for some reason mascaras don’t ever smudge on me (knock on wood).
On to the moisturizer —
I got mine for about $12 at Ulta. I am not a huge fan of the scent (or any scent in any moisturizer) BUT…
it is knocking my beloved Cerave out of the park right now. My skin has been so extremely dry and flaky lately that it has needed something thicker. This derma e moisturizer is heavy (which I love), 75% of it sinks right in and the other 25% remains a little dewy (not shiny or oily) and makeup goes on fine over it. I’m sure it would all sink in if one applied less, but I really need a barrier between my poor skin and my apartment’s heating system.
It doesn’t have SPF, but I’ve read that it mixes well with other products. I will try mixing my Cerave with SPF in with it. Today for my wax, I went with just this moisturizer and a floppy hat for sun protection.
(me being a total selfie goober in my new hat and marc jacobs lippie)
I hope you have a wonderful snow/ice day if you’re with me on the east coast! Drive safe. 🙂 And treat yourself to a long bath and a sheet mask for a pampered evening.
Clinique High Impact Mascara — new love. It is the lightest yet most dramatic but not too dramatic mascara I have ever tried. It separates, it lengthens, it adds volume in all the right places… and it is SO black. The brush shape is perfect for getting the outer lashes without making a mess.
Coupled with Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (on bottom lashes… derp) it really makes the eyes open and pop. The bottom lash mascara makes it possible to define all of the lower lashes without getting ANY on your skin!
I ordered several deluxe samples of mascara and these two are so far the winners, but I have yet to try one or two… we shall see.
Ignore how crooked and dirty my glasses are for a second and look at those lashes! Thank you, Clinique. 🙂
To finish up three shades from my Sonia Kashuk eye on neutral shimmer palette, I am using them in my Project 10 Pan everyday makeup look. I also plan on finishing my Physician’s formula organic wear mascara and eye booster liquid liner. Here is the look:
The look is very warm and suitable for the daytime. I’m using the copper shade on the lid, the brown-gold on the crease and on the lower lash line, and the palest shade to highlight the brow bone.
And now I’ll review this lovely liner and mascara:
Eye BOOSTER 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum: It goes on extremely well via a very fine brush tip applicator. No skipping or chipping here. It in no way irritates the eyes upon application or removal. It stays put through everything I’ve put it through, including light tears and long naps. I haven’t noticed any serum benefits yet, but I’ve only been using it for about a week. When I go to remove it, it comes off completely with my normal cleansing routine. No makeup remover necessary, which is remarkable given its staying power. My only complaint: it just isn’t black enough, even in the shade “Ultra Black.” It isn’t grey or green or anything, it just isn’t a true onyx black like I want. But the rest is great!
Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara: Should be called jumbo wand mascara! The thing is huge! I can manage, but I prefer a more traditional wand. I chose this for a daytime everyday look because really, there’s nothing too intense about it. And sometimes, liquid liner is all the intensity one needs. It makes the lashes black, makes them a little longer and considerably thicker and more noticeable, but not too dramatic. My favorite thing about this mascara is that it removes completely when I wash my face without taking any lashes with it. A little cetaphil and this stuff is gone!
I’m on the fence as to whether or not I’ll repurchase these later on. We all know I have lots of shopping from my own stash to do after I finish these two!
Here’s my full FOTD, using all of my Project 10 Pan products.
