Snow Day Face + Things I’m Loving This Month

Today I had lots of time to get ready, so I went full-face today. 🙂 I went shopping, bought a new great purse and hat, some pet necessities, and a baby knitting book for some friends of mine who are expecting.

(my new vegan faux leather purse/backpack with lots of pockets!)

For the look I used the new-to-me technique, tight lining, with light bronze and taupe eye makeup, and several of this month’s makeup favorites.

FACE- smashbox powder foundation, nars laguna bronzer, milani luminoso blush

BROWS- anastasia beverly hills dipbrow in dark brown, sonia kashuk clear brow gel

EYES- tarte golden days and sultry days amazonian clay palette, nyx black liner in bottom and upper lashline, tarte gifted mascara, clinique bottom lash mascara

LIPS- rimmel east end snob lip liner, buxom white russian lip gloss

Things I’m Loving This Month

-smashbox powder foundation. It works great over my moisturizer and primers, and it isn’t drying at all. The coverage is great, and it is super quick to apply with my real techniques powder and buffing face brushes. I’ve been getting compliments ever since I started using this this month.

-rimmel lip liner in east end snob. It is the perfect pinky nude, and I hear it is a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s liner in pillow talk, which is a splurge. It works very well for my fair skin tone and lasts a while, even though it is creamy to apply.

-milani baked blush in luminoso. This will travel with me into spring. It seems perfect for all seasons, and it brings such dimension and glow to the face! I haven’t touched another blush in weeks.

-tight lining. This new trick is a little uncomfortable, but it is so brightening and makes my lashes seem to go on for days! A new favorite, for sure.

Well, I hope you enjoy your snow day if you have one!

xoxo,

Martha

serious mascara for serious ladies

Clinique High Impact Mascara — new love. It is the lightest yet most dramatic but not too dramatic mascara I have ever tried. It separates, it lengthens, it adds volume in all the right places… and it is SO black. The brush shape is perfect for getting the outer lashes without making a mess.

Coupled with Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (on bottom lashes… derp) it really makes the eyes open and pop. The bottom lash mascara makes it possible to define all of the lower lashes without getting ANY on your skin!

I ordered several deluxe samples of mascara and these two are so far the winners, but I have yet to try one or two… we shall see.

Ignore how crooked and dirty my glasses are for a second and look at those lashes! Thank you, Clinique. 🙂

Rose Gold Eyes and Bold Brows after Sunday Spa-day

After a perfumed bath featuring Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka, I used two face masks: an AHA peel by Alba and a scar-lightening mask by Garnier. Then I decided to play with makeup for a rose gold look, a tiny winged eyeliner, and a nude lip with my naturally bold brows (and the help of a pencil).

Get Un-Ready With Me! (winter skincare)

Time to take off day 1 of Project Pan! It wore well, except for this bothersome blemish on my chin, sigh.

IMG_2634.JPG

First, I cleanse my skin with a scrub, a charcoal pore cleanser, and my dermatologist’s recommended blemish bar (contains sulfur and salicylic acid). I use all of these with a CVS knock-off of a Clarisonic.

IMG_2635.JPG

The scrub smooths my skin, the Biore charcoal cleanser keeps my pores so clear that my dermatologist even commented on their emptiness (!), and the PCA blemish bar has done a really good job of halting breakouts. I’ve had about 75% less acne since I started using it.

Next are my serums… I have a serum addiction. Anything to fix my acne scarring!!

IMG_2636.JPG

The Murad serum has definitely significantly lightened my hyper pigmentation from years of acne. It’s too soon to tell with the Clinique. The Estée Lauder and the Palmers serum are great for extra moisture under a cream.

Speaking of creams…

IMG_2637.JPG

Wow, I put a lot of shit on my face at night! But nothing beats hydrated skin… other than clear skin (yes, I’m looking at you, genes). The Cetaphil cream seals the deal as far as winter moisturizers go. Cerave was recommended to me by my dermatologist, and she also prescribed Eletone. So I mix them all together. And some Cerave eye cream can’t hurt (in fact, eye makeup goes on much better when I’ve been using it for a while).

Throw in some toothpaste and chapstick and you have my winter nighttime routine! Any tips for dark spots or dry skin? I’d love to hear them in the comments. 🙂

Daytime look/GRWM for the next long while

If you saw my last post, you know I’m using up 10 fabulous products via slathering them on my face every day. I chose 10 of my favorites, and here is a little get-ready-with-me using them all.

First, I cleanse, moisturize, and prime the skin. Today, I also did a face mask.

Cetaphil, Garnier dark spot mask, CVS knock-off of Cerave daytime moisturizer with SPF, and primers: Cover FX with salicylic acid, Maybelline Baby Skin, and Garnier 5sec Blur. As always, some Burt’s Bees to top it off.

after all that, my face is ready to go.

Can’t stand that little thing on my chin! Oh well, let’s cover it up.

And after my daytime eye look, along with bronzer, blush, and highlight, and my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in fig jam:

There we are! My daytime look until I’ve made room for a few more products… 🙂
